Maximize vs. Fixed Boost — Which One?

Use Maximize when a file is simply too quiet overall: it finds the loudest peak and raises everything so that peak sits just under full scale — completely lossless. Use a fixed boost when maximize isn't enough, e.g. a recording with one loud pop but quiet speech; pushing past the peak intentionally trades a little distortion on the pop for audible speech. If you need broadcast-style loudness targets instead, the Volume Normalizer measures LUFS and hits -14/-16/-23 exactly.
